Device would be recognized and the camera would be usable in at least in one linux application. If I can’t get the microscope working under Ubuntu, I have promised to give it to one of my sons. This change has been made by an automated script, maintained by the Ubuntu Kernel Team.

Once you’ve tested the upstream kernel, please remove the ‘needs- upstream- testing’ tag. I assume that’s why neither the camera nor the built-in microphone of the microscope is usable by these webcam applications like Skype, guvcview, cheese etc.
